The worst thing about the title is that it is not even original.
Moving on. Alex and I just got back from a two week holiday to Malaysia and Brunei to do some shopping and visit Alex’s parents. And shop I did. I managed to make a significant dent in my savings, but that’s what holidays are for right? Spending money to buy something you can (or in most of the cases can not get) but for cheaper than they would ever be in Australia, because Australia is an expensive place to live. I’ll save that rant for another day though.
I’m going to start of with the clothing items because it will take less time as there is less and it’s easier. We should also pretend that there is actually room in my wardrobe for more clothes. I will squeeze them in.
First off I got a couple of skirts from Cotton On. Yes I know there’s a Cotton On in Australia but it’s expensive and not that great. I got a simple, black skater skirt, which is self explanatory, they’re on trend and can be worn a number of different ways. The second skirt I got is a navy blue, with pink flowers, also in a skater skirt style. At first I was unsure of the skirt, but then I realised I had pockets and basically ran to the counter to pay for it, it also helped that it was on sale. Cha-Ching!
The blouse I purchased is from the Factory Outlet Store (FOS), and I really liked the gold detailing because it is not over the top, but is delicate and pretty. Also ignore the fact that the photo shows how crinkly the shirt is; It has not been washed since I returned home, so it also has not been ironed. The three shirts from Forever 21 are all basic t-shirts. AKA my favourite types of shirts because I can wear them with anything and they will look appropriate.
Last of the clothing items, the dress. What a dilemma finding a dress that I liked, that fitted and was appropriate for the event I am attending. The event is a ball held by the University of Adelaide Law Society? Association? Something like that. I am not doing law, but whatever I know enough people who are that it won’t be weird. Anyway, the dress is not something I would usually pick out for my self but it fits and the pattern of the dress is beautiful, and I am excited to wear it.
Now on to the time consuming/difficult part of the blog, the beauty products I purchased. There is already a review up on the blog for The Body Shop eyeshadows, if you want to check that out for more information. I bought another matte purple lipstick, from the Revlon Colourburst range, in the shade Shameless, but it is a different shade so it is fine, right? The Stila, In the Know palette was not my first choice, but it is an all matte palette which is what I was looking for, so it will do the job. The Victoria’s Secret body mist in Noir Tease is heavenly. Alex and I both smelt it when we were leaving for our trip in Adelaide airport and I knew I needed to have it, and I also knew I could get it cheaper in Malaysia. I knew I needed a new body scrub and I happened to stumble upon the Soap & Glory one, and it was a reasonable price so that’s all there is to say about that one. So far the scrub works wondrously. The makeup brush daily cleaner was an impulse buy at the checkout, basically because I am super lazy and never bother to clean my brushes properly. I thought maybe it would help me to clean them.
As of a couple of months ago, Target in Australia started to stock NYX products, but as far as I am aware, they are not in store near me. The two blushes I picked up, Dusty Rose and Mocha are popular in the beauty community, so I thought I would try them out. Last but not least, Hoola by Benefit. There is quite a long story to me buying that, which involves gift vouchers after spending a certain amount of money, and then Alex and I combining our new receipts to receive more gift vouchers. It was a crazy afternoon in Parkson (A department store). Anyway I got it basically because when it was converted to Australian Dollars, it was cheap in comparison to what it is normally here, and I am never going to be able to get it cheaper, so I just got it. Hopefully it lives up to the hype. Also, due to the conversion it costed basically as much as my Physicians Formula bronzer which I got from Priceline.
So there we have it, a list of things that I purchased whilst I was away. I had a really good trip, and I am now safely back in Adelaide and not looking forward to going back to uni tomorrow. I will probably do reviews on some of the products mentioned in this blog post at a later date.
